In January 2012, the J.JUAN Group acquired AJP Industrial, a company leader in braking systems and hydraulic clutches for off road motorcycles. And created BRAKTEC. His idea, integrate nearly four decades of know-how in a new name.
” BRAKTEC not only includes the knowledge, experience, tradition and history of AJP in its nearly 40 years of life, but also constitutes a complete re-launch as a brand, with higher quality and reliability, and with the clear goal of becoming a global reference, as well as commitment to the major manufacturers of off road bike “ explained Juan Ceprián, Director General of BRAKTEC.
J.JUAN’s new off-road brand, is already in it’s early stages, in addition to responding to the demand for AJP products, still present on the market, it has begun to develop its own range of products. ” In less than a year have relaunched all the products of the previous stage, and a whole new range for trials and endurance; and all this with an excellent return on the part of our customers “. In fact, each and every one of these new products has on top been entirely born and evolved at a top-class level. ” We believe the best way to offer the best products is to invest in the world of competition and so feedback to our know-how in order to then apply that to the series “, comments the main manager.
Hence, from the outset, the new competition range designed by BRAKTEC for the world of trial racing, is for example already in the leading specialty manufacturers such as as Montesa-HRC, Gas Gas and Sherco. “And in a not too distant future we are working to bring it into all the other brands”.
As for the endurance, the starting point is the same: the competition, and always with an eye to staying in the series. In this discipline mechanical reliability is a precious and coveted commodity, BRAKTEC ensures that and more: professionalism, commitment and above all, results.

This year J.Juan participated again in the CIMA, where there were introduced, for the first time, motorcycles higher than 200cc for the Chinese market. This was one of the main interests of J.Juan.In that sense, the CFmoto Company, created in China in 1989, presented such a big new: a 650cc motorcycle. J.Juan has collaborated in this innovator project, providing several benefits, all of them with the high quality that this kind of motorcycle needs.
Thanks to this important agreement, J.Juan can already confirm that its product it’s consolidated in the developing Chinese market.
The main goals that J.Juan pretends to achieve in that market are:
To be present in the high range vehicles market.
To provide ABS and CBS as the technology experts that Chinese market needs, neither to export them to Europe nor to use them.
To introduce itself in the 3 wheeler motorcycle market.
To establish J.Juan product in the medium-range market, that it’s standing out versus the low-cost one.

“I thank J.JUAN and Avintia for helping me to fulfil my dream”
– Have you woken up or are you still dreaming of your unexpected MotoGP debut as a pilot during the last GP of Cataluña in Montmelo?
– The truth is that I woke-Ed.: Laughter … and it’s given me time to be aware of what we did that weekend. It was something great, within the reach of very few. Therefore, I would like to thank Avintia Blusens Racing and J.JUAN for helping me fulfil my dream. No doubt, both will be marked in my head forever.
– What do you remember of the conversation in which Raul Romero, Team Manager of the Avintia Blusens team sponsored by J.Juan-, proposed you mount on a MotoGP bike?
– Look, when he said it, my first thought was that it was a joke. When they call you and propose something like that, you first think that they have to be kidding. ‘Are you kidding?’ I said. ‘No’, Raul answered. ‘You sure?’ I insisted. ‘Sure’, he asserted again.
– And how long did it take you to decide?
– Nothing I did not hesitate for a moment.
– Where you not scared to go from the stands to the track, with the best drivers in the world, in a flash?
– I will tell you that fear no; respect, yes. If you’re afraid, you will not get on a motorcycle.
– As I have thoroughly explained in these days, I only knew the circuit. Nothing more. Neither the bike or tires or electronics … what was the most difficult to assimilate?
– The electronics. Because today we are at such a sophisticated level that people think the bike rides on it’s own, that each time there’s less merit on the part of the pilots. Well I would say they are partly right, but I would like to tell you that there are things that make the bikes do themselves, yes, but your mind is not able to assimilate what they can do. Let me explain. You know that this curve can be done completely in fourth gear, but your mind is able unable to assimilate that. Come on, it’s a half-truth.
– Yet you qualified for the race on your own merits; there was no need to give you a second chance.
– It was clear, perhaps it was the only thing that was clear-Ed.: Laughter-, yes, that I would qualify because Montmelo is like my backyard. And what the hell! Sunday I was going to be on the track.
– How did it feel to share the track with Rossi, Lorenzo, Pedrosa or Marquez for the first time?
– To be honest, on that particular aspect, nothing, because in 2011 when I was test driver for Swiss manufacturer Suter, when they were developing their own MotoGP project, the Suter-BMW 1000, I shared a track with most of them. It was in Cheste, in some tests. But even there, sharing a track with World Cup candidates for the first time, left no impression on me but respect. I guess they must have felt and thought the same towards me in the last GP of Cataluña.
– Did you get any advice from your new rivals for the weekend?
– From Ivan Silva, the pilot who in 2012 competed with Avintia Blusens Racing during the entire MotoGP and who this year is their reserve driver. Basically, he warned me about the behaviour of the carbon discs, of their peculiar functioning. More than anything, he gave me advice to understand how they worked.
– Your idea was to finish the race and at the most compete with Pesek, the pilot who was with you in the time-trials. However, in the end, apart from that you succeeded in scoring.
– The truth is, the fact that I scored is in the end anecdotal. I think it would have been with Pesek if he hadn’t fallen. It was a race with many falls, the track was very slippery, so that it was a case of being as prudent as possible insofar as you can by riding a bike with the characteristics of a MotoGP.
– You are Spanish pilot number 17 to compete in the MotoGP since its inception in 2002. Will you repeat the experience?
– After that weekend, I cannot say no. I don’t know myself! -Ed.: Laughter-.
– This season you are carrying on in the CEV, the Spanish Speed Championship, but after 15 years not as a pilot, but as Chief Mechanic of the Laglisse Team that participates in Stock Extreme. After your performance in Catalonia, do you think you’ve won a seat for the remainder of 2013?
– I’d like to not be misunderstood but what I’m going to say is, I don’t need to run in MotoGP in order to have a bike. I think if in 2013 I’m back on track in the CEV it’s not going to be due to my career in Montmelo. Retired I’m not. I do a lot of bike work as J.JUAN tester, as well as for Michelin. Also, without going any further, the next 5th of July I will be taking part in the 24 Hours of Motorcycling Circuit de Cataluña with Suzuki Català, the team that last year we proclaimed champions. So if I was actually retired… this weekend I would go to the beach or I would stay quietly at home watching TV.
– By the way, around social networks a picture of you with Lorenzo has become very famous. Were you congratulating him or towing?
– I’m towing him. Jorge ran out of gas. Aleix Espargaró was towing him, but had a problem with the clutch and so I took the baton so he could reach the podium in time. A friendship unites Lorenzo and me; I’m not a complete stranger to him and his family. In fact, with his father Chicho, I have a good relationship. I happened to meet Jorge when he was competing for the Copa Aprilia 50. Moreover, by that time so did I, but in the Copa Aprilia 250. We happen to meet at podiums, awards ceremonies, as well as the occasional publicity event. The truth is that the possibility of being together on the same track ten years afterwards was very nice.

The brand new J.JUAN Group brake systems for off road motorcycles will be present in it’s the two versions, which from September will begin to market the latest and anticipated Montesa-Honda 4RT260.
During the Italian Grand Prix, fifth scoring race for the Outdoor Trial World Championship of 2013, Montesa-Honda debuted the new Cota 4RT, a model which will be launched in two months and feature two versions: the Cota 4RT260 revisits the Montesa red with which the manufacturer clothed the previous models of the most iconic series Cota, and Race Replica, as its name suggests inherits from the current image of the Repsol Montesa-HRC, official competition team of the Hispanic-Japanese brand .
This model, produced entirely in the plant that Montesa-Honda has in our country, features amongst other changes the new BRAKTEC brake systems. Without going any further, the new Cota 4RT260 incorporates the new proprietary braking pump of the J.JUAN Group; much more compact and lightweight, offering more bite and an even more accurate response. Additionally, the brand new hydraulic tubing and hydraulics are also produced by BRAKTEC and fully integrated into the bike. The latest contribution of the J.JUAN off-road motorcycle braking systems specialist to the new 4RT260 Cota, is the clutch pump, a lighter weight and if possible even more efficient thanks to the precise and ergonomic design as well as the reliable manufacturing process throughout the BRAKTEC facilities and the entire J.JUAN Team in Gava, near Barcelona.
In terms of availability, both the Cota 4RT260 as well as the Race Replica will be on sale from next September, although the retail price has not yet been announced for either.
More details on the new Cota 4RT260 2014 is available on the dedicated website by Montesa-Honda:

The Spanish manufacturer specialist in motorcycle brake systems has taken active part in the first edition of this new competition for engineering and design students from all over Europe.
Barcelona is becoming on it’s own merits, the motorbike capital of Europe. And a good example of this is this first edition of the Barcelona Smart Moto Challenge, a competition in which design and engineering students of various European universities have four days to design, develop and eventually produce their own urban two-wheeled electric prototypes.
This new initiative, promoted by the Barcelona Knowledge Campus and Clúster de la Moto, counts with the collaboration and technical support of various companies in the bike sector, among them is J.JUAN. Well, the specialist Spanish manufacturer in motorcycle brake systems has been one of its most active and sought sponsors in the debuting of this University challenge, which has as objective participants working on a comprehensive project to build an electric motorcycle from start to end. That is, they conceptualise, design, and ultimately give life to a fully functional and approved electric bike for circulation in town, as well as developing a business plan that includes strategies for introducing your vehicle on the market.
Not surprisingly, almost all of the seven teams in its first edition have opted for different J.JUAN products in order to give life to their electric prototypes. “We have helped them to develop the front and rear brake, with the parameters of lightness and maximum performance that they needed for their electric models”, explains Jaume Rosines, Project Manager for J.JUAN and member of the Jury for the first Barcelona Smart Moto Challenge.
In this first edition a total of seven university teams have been involved, from Barcelona, Madrid, Cartagena, Wroclaw (Poland) and Moscow (Russia). They had to overcome various trials and challenges in two very different scenarios. Parcmotor Castellolí is where over three days of evaluation took place on the design of the bikes, as well as various static and dynamic tests on asphalt. And right in the very streets of Barcelona, on Paseo de Sant Joan, is where the teams presented their projects coinciding with the last and definitive test run, to decide the winning teams in the different competition categories of this 2013.
” Of the seven University teams registered only four went to the end of the fourth and final day: UPC (Barcelona), Cartagena, Wroclaw and Moscow. The rest were left out after failing to complete and submit their final model. And this is a good example of the enormous difficulties in taking part in a competition of this kind. The truth is that this first edition designs were very innovative with elaborate and researched technical solutions, so it was not easy to score. Despite this we still had to do it and all the jury felt the best project was undoubtedly the one shown by the University of Moscow. ”
The Jury for this first Barcelona Smart Moto Challenge, of which J.JUAN is a part, opted for Russian electric motorcycle “ because its proposal was focused on becoming a form of urban transport for the police in the Russian capital, with different settings of the PBX programming and ergonomics designed specifically for use as police vehicle for the city. “
