J.Juan is continually reaching triumphs with his competition braking kit for Side by Side, to the point of winning all the events in which it participates. Now, it’s time for the ATV (All Terrain Vehicle), with the new competition kit for these four-wheeled vehicles with which the company of the two jacks wants to continue the success of Side by Side.

Since the appearance of the first four-wheel Quad, back in 1982 by Suzuki, the so-called ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) have been enjoying greater stability and speed, currently equipping engines up to 1000cc, that gives them an incredible ability to accelerate and acquire speed in a flash. And it needs an equivalent, which is none other than the need to stop these powerful quadricycles in an equally effective way.

Many drivers and ATV users will agree that the braking performance of several current models have certain limitations. Historically, ATVs are equipped with motorcycle-derived brakes simply installed on the stub axles, which leads to some shortcomings. To date, no manufacturer has ever had a system designed exclusively for the particular characteristics of ATVs, such as small rim wheels with large rubber profiles, the fixed and unventilated brake discs, the typical aggressive offroad context on which they run, and the most important point, it is that vehicles of great weight and power that ideally the user would like to brake with one or two fingers on the handle.

Faced with this need, one wonders: Why not to design an exclusive brake system for ATVs focusing its development on the competition? This is the question that J.Juan wants to answer, and what better way to do it than presenting this system, developed by the J.Juan Racing Department from his experience in competitions for ATVs such as the Hellas Rally, the Rally Morocco or Baja Aragón, among others.  The Racing Department of J.Juan has been dedicated to designing and refining sophisticated “plug & play” brake kits (ie without modifications to the vehicle), which include both hand-held brake pumps and foot, front calipers, rear calipers and metal hoses, which drag its reputation as a reference product in the market to be equipped originally by brands such as BMW, KTM, Ducati, Triumph, among others. A new, surprising kit, with everything you need to brake a competitive ATV with the index finger of our right hand. You have to try it to believe it!

Kits available for the main models used in competition: these brake kits are available for the main ATV models on the market, such as the Yamaha YFM700R, the Can-Am Renegade 1000R and, soon, the Honda TRX450R. Your laggabe? the “know how” that J.Juan treasures as the second best brake manufacturer in Europe for motorcycle and powersports and the long and intense tests to which they have been subjected, both in the laboratory and especially in competition.

Pump or hand pumps: they are units of robust design, with a precise internal machining and calibrated unitarily in the factory. They offer the possibility of regulating the height of the handle by means of a roller operable with the gloves on, and the ergonomics of the handle seeks the best touch in braking with one or two fingers. Available both for right hand and left hand, depending on the type of ATV (automatic or sequential change).

Front calipers: the front brake consists of two floating-type calipers specially designed for ATVs. Equipped with two lightweight anodized aluminum pistons, CNC machined supports and high-performance sintered pellets. The calipers are characterized by being very light, but at the same time rigid and robust against the constant impact of stones and gravel, as well as prepared to withstand the effect of mud and dust.  Foot pump: the foot pump is interchangeable with the original, maintaining the feel and ergonomics of the pedal.  Rear calipers: the rear brake, according to the model of ATV, consists of calipers of floating type of one or two pistons, with sintered pellets specially designed for rear brake applications. The precision in the manufacture of this kit is checked with great ease to cause blockage and use the oversteer as a driving tool.  Additional elements: in addition, the kit includes metal hoses and bolts lightened and ready to be sealed.

What models can equip them? BRP CAN-AM RENEGADE 850 / 1000R. An authentic beast of 89 horses and almost 1000cc. Its great engine and wingspan are its main weapon, but at the same time it shows a good stability. Without doubts its weight and performance put to the test the original brake system, which shows excessive hardness in the handle and lack of braking power in both cold and hot, leading the pilot to fatigue their hands to actuate the brake continuously. Possibly, this is the best starting point to show the remarkable improvement with the J.Juan Racing kit, a kit developed entirely under the Hellas Rally of Greece, a long and hard test that runs through dream landscapes, which do not stop being highly aggressive for the driver.

All the drivers give the same opinion after trying the J.Juan Racing kit; surprising the ease of stopping the Renegade dry simply by stroking the handle with index finger or index finger and ring (according to the style of the driver). And not only we speak of gross power, the ability to dose the braking has been one of the objectives in the design of this kit, given the variability of the terrain (gravel, beach sand, loose stone, asphalt), driver-brake communication – Floor is exceptional, being able to foresee the blocking point with great ease and advance.  YAMAHA YFM700R. Agile as a feline and with a good push thanks to its 45 horsepower engine with manual gearbox.

The Yamaha ATV shows a great dynamism and J.Juan’s proposal for its brake system seeks to further strengthen these dynamic capabilities through the design of a highly dosable brake system that also presents a novel possibility, which is the one to operate the rear brake by the thumb of our left hand.  This new product is installed attached to the clutch lever, and while the fingers and index fingers deal with the clutch, the thumb is responsible for operating the brake cam, adjustable in height, which will allow us to control the rear brake by oversteering in extreme driving positions which do not allow to operate the brake pedal with the foot. The opinion of the drivers during the development of this product has served to provide it with an ideal ergonomics, and have allowed to adequately adjust the necessary power in the rear brake. On the other hand, the front brake maintains the large dosing capacity and the enormous gross power of the system that equips the Renegade kit.
