Maverick Viñales has earned his seventh podium of the season in the Japanese Motegi circuit after a second place starting from the second row of the grid. With this new achievement, the pupil of Sito Pons mathematically secures a third place in the championship with three races still remaining.
His partner in the HP 40 Páginas Amarillas, Luis Salom, has had a more difficult race, starting from the twenty-fifth position, and has been climbing to finish fifteenth.
